I'm relaying a question for a friend:
"What are the best transmissions in Jeeps? Manuals only, no autos."

My friends are designing an adapter bellhousing for the Mercedes 300 Diesel to fit into Jeeps as a motor swap option. the Mercedes 300 Diesel is a common, reliable, upgradeable engine. At the 250 HP level, and ability to run slow, torquey, and alternative fuels, this may become a popular engine swap.
He just needs to know which transmissions to adapt to for the Jeep crowd.

Thanks JDunn. Is that a common jeep trans? Does it hold up well to high torque?

T18, NV4500, SM465 are all trannies that get swapped into Jeeps. The AX15 is a common stock Jeep tranny from late 80 to late 90s. NV3550 in the newer TJ's. Theres some Peugeot crap too.

That's a big subject.

AW4 auto could handle that torque. I got a couple he could have to play with.
